Test Mode
- Anuko Auction Sniper can operate in a special TEST MODE. In this mode, the sniper works as usual but the final submitting of bids is disabled. To visually distinguish the test mode each target's title bar will become brown instead of blue. Additionally, a note about the test mode will be displayed in Anuko Auction Sniper main window title bar. To launch Anuko Auction Sniper in test mode use the "/d" command line switch. For example:
snipeme.exe /d
- Note: to launch Anuko Auction Sniper from the command line first open command line window (Start - Run... - cmd.exe) and then type in the command line specifying the full path. Alternatively, add the "/d" switch to sniper shortcut properties (in the Target field). Be careful about where to use quotes in the Target field. If the path contains spaces it must be surrounded by quotes but the "/d" switch should be provided without quotes. For example:
"C:\Program Files\SnipeMe\snipeme.exe" /d
Keep Your PC Clock Accurate
- Anuko Auction Sniper relies on your local computer clock to make your bids. If you PC time is a bit off and you snipe too close to auction end time you may miss some targets. Make sure that your PC clock is accurate. Synchronize your clock with online time servers using a time synchronizing program. Note that most time synchronizers use SNTP protocol, which provides time accuracy of about 2 seconds. In other words, sniping 2 seconds or less before auction end time is probably not a good idea. Even when using a time synchronizing program make sure to have at least 5-6 seconds for your shot to come through. If your PC is too old (like several years) check if your motherboard battery is still good. A weak battery may affect speed of your PC clock. There are many time synchronizing programs available. Among others, you can try Anuko World Clock, which comes with a time synchronizer.
Examine Log File When Troubleshooting
- When things do not work it may help to examine logs. Anuko Auction Sniper does not store logs anywhere. But every auction tab keeps its individual log in memory. Such logs live only while their tab exists. To save the log select the "Show Log" option in Anuko Auction Sniper "Options" menu, then click the right mouse button in the log area, choose "Copy All" and paste the clipboard content into a document of your choice with either a CTRL-V command or Edit - Paste menu option available in many applications.
- When communicating your problem in Anuko Auction Sniper newsgroup or to Anuko technical support it may help to include a relevant log file.
Use the Switch User Function to Run Sniper for Several Users Simultaneously
- If several users need to use Anuko Auction Sniper on the same computer they can use the "Switch User" function available in Windows XP or Vista. Do not logoff other users if they have active snipes. Anuko Auction Sniper saves its settings such as active auctions and other information in user section of the system registry (HKCU). Other users, if they want to use the product, need to logon to Windows on their own, and launch Anuko Auction Sniper in their own personal environment.
