Duration.

Note that the
Start and
Finish fields are editable. Group managers can make the fields non-editable for some user roles and therefore force them to use the
Now buttons on the right to populate the controls using the
Punch mode setting in
Group settings.
"Duration" Record Type
When
duration record type is used, users must only specify the duration for their time entries. Instead of
Start and
Finish fields, only
Duration field is available. This simplifies user interface and time entry process.

"All" Record Type
When
all record type is used, users see
Start,
Finish, and
Duration fields on time entry pages and can enter their time in either fashion. This provides flexibility to users but introduces additional controls to handle.

Tracking Overnight Time
Current Time Tracker code does not allow creating overnight entries that start before midnight and end in the morning of the following day. Some older versions considered such entries valid, but essentially were creating 2 entries, one for the existing day, another for the following day.
To keep things simple and to avoid errors, a record spanning midnight is currently considered invalid. To track overnight time, create 2 separate entries: one before midnight, another after midnight.
