When the fields are displayed, users can put comments there to apply to their corresponding records. Week view with enabled notes
Compare the above screenshot with the one below with disabled notes. Users cannot enter individual notes for time records and are restricted to entering durations only. At the same time, the week view becomes less cluttered with controls, simplifying data entry in situations when comments are not required, for example when users enter their regular 40 hour weeks working on something repetitive.
